Privacy policy

Last updated 31 July 2026. The short version: the app processes your video on your own computer, and we do not receive it.

Who we are

Soft Clipper is published by Atlantic Ltd Store Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15025294, with its registered office at 4 Blenheim Court, Peppercorn Close, Peterborough, PE1 2DU. That company is the data controller for everything described on this page.

What the desktop app sends

  • Licence activation. Your licence key and an anonymous hardware fingerprint — a one-way hash of machine identifiers. It cannot be reversed into your name, your files or your hardware serial numbers, and its only purpose is enforcing one licence per computer.
  • Periodic licence checks. The same two values, occasionally, to confirm the licence is still valid.
  • Nothing else. No telemetry, no usage analytics, no crash uploads, no list of the videos you process.

What the app sends to Google, on your behalf

AI features use your own Google Gemini API key, entered by you in Settings. Requests go directly from your computer to Google under your key, and are covered by your agreement with Google, not by us. Depending on the source video this can include the video's caption text, compressed audio for transcription, or — only in visual analysis mode, which you choose deliberately — a low-resolution copy of the video. We never see any of it.

Your video file itself is never uploaded to us under any circumstances.

What the website collects

  • Purchases. Card payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your email address, order details and country for tax purposes, but never see or store your card number. If you choose bank transfer or wallet payment, we receive your email, order reference, quoted amount, payment method, transaction ID and any optional payment screenshot you submit. Screenshots are stored privately and are used only to help verify, support or investigate that payment.
  • Email you send us. Kept as long as needed to support you, then deleted.
  • Advertising measurement. If advertising pixels are running, they may record that a visit or a purchase happened. This is disclosed in the cookie notice at the point it applies.
  • Referral tracking. If you arrive through an affiliate link, the affiliate's code — a short word such as ali, nothing about you — is stored in your browser for 60 days so that whoever recommended us is credited if you buy. It is passed to Stripe with a card purchase or attached to your pending bank-payment order. Clearing your browser's site data removes it, and nothing on the site behaves differently if it is not there.

Legal basis and retention

We process purchase data to perform the contract with you, and keep transaction records for as long as UK tax law requires. Licence records are kept for the life of the licence so it can be moved between machines and reissued if lost.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may request a copy of your data, ask for corrections, ask for deletion, or object to processing. Email us and we will respond within one month. Deleting your licence record ends your ability to reactivate or transfer the licence, so we will confirm before doing it.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. It is shared only with the processors needed to run the business — payment, email and hosting providers — and only to the extent each needs.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the previous version is available on request.
